Now, in Everyday Dorie, she returns to the kitchen to serve up simple, delicious everyday food that would be as company-worthy as it is family friendly. Totally unpleasant to read as every page turn is a struggle. You can still see all customer reviews for the product. All the photos are fabulous and the recipes are accessible for a home cook. Advertise I just bake a bunch of chicken cutlets and keep it in fridge and make a wrap whenever I want. • Dorie is a real hand-holder, meaning those brand new to the kitchen will be able to pull off most of these recipes. I read a lot of cookbooks, and it’s rare when I want to make—and eat—almost every recipe. I used bronzino instead of halibut, and it was still great. Dorie gives tips for working ahead and storing, which is important to me. So far I have made the Clam Chowder My Way, a fantastic Asian riff on chowder, the Carmalized Onion Galette, which was worth every second to make, and the Miso Salmon, which when prepped the night before is the only dish you could easily make after work. For the most part they are simple recipes for any skill set that will provide a meal that you are proud to serve to your family or guests.

But experienced cooks are going to love the flavors, Dorie’s insights and the sheer dependability of these dishes. While this book has some of that too, her savory recipes are equally fantastic.

There aren't a lot of reasons to buy cookbooks anymore but this one is worth it. I serve the salmon with her ginger fried rice, and it was fantastic. There are dishes for every occasion, with innovative riffs like Gougères with a zippy addition of Dijon mustard; classic Flounder Meunière with an added pizazz of Onion-Walnut Relish; a hot, spicy, slightly sweet Beef Stew with a handful of cranberries; Clam Chowder made with lemongrass, coconut milk and ginger; and of course, Greenspan’s ever-splendid desserts (check out her Apple Custard Crisp). Award-winning author Gordon Korman has a knack for understanding the preteen brain. “Everyday Dorie” feels much less meticulous and much less “cared for” than her … I have made the chicken wrap recipe from this book, and it is a big hit! Dorie Greenspan is one of my favorite authors for cookies and desserts.

It has a wide variety but is not overwhelming and has excellent instructions that produce good, consistent results.
Does anyone else hate the the binding on this book? • She’s out-“Doried” herself this time: The 150 recipes included here are fabulous and introduced with wonderfully written and informative header notes. • The binding is so tight that even putting a soup can to hold it open is not weight enough to hold the pages open. Dorie does desserts and tea cakes especially well, and her lemon curd is wonderfully tart and smooth. I’m not sure that for most working people the recipes are everyday, but enough are that it can be a weekly cookbook. If you aren’t already familiar with Dorie Greenspan—who by now has legions of devoted followers both young and old—you are in for a treat.
