If you walk in an ibank's TA department with a CFA but you can't read a chart, they'll politely tell you not to let the door hit you on the way out.

Most CFAs just twittle their thumbs all day if they have a job!! From my perspective it is almost exclusively for those that want to be in the Hedge Fund, Private Equity and Fund of Funds space, but not as a portfolio manager or analyst of the underlying assets.
